Hear your Warm and Fuzzy here!
At some point in our lives we all ask ourselves the question, “why am I here?” and maybe “what canI do to make the world a better place?”
Deep down inside many of us, most of us wish to do something profound and memorable that will help shape the world into something good, something that will impact the lives of others in a positive way. Has it occurred to you that by the very nature of desiring to make a difference, you already have?
If you have ever seen and given thought to the Jimmy Stewart Christmas movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life” you realize it is much more than a Christmas movie. It is a snapshot of how one life makes a significant difference in the world. And when you take that one person out of the picture, well, the shape of the world changes and not necessarily for the good.
Robert F. Kennedy had this to say about living a life that makes a difference:
“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” ― Robert F. Kennedy
Those are such an inspiring and powerful words!!
And in closing, I like what Mahatma Gandi said, “ In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”
