When we lose someone or something or have it taken away from us, we are sure to experience some type of grief.
Those of us with chronic pain have either had a sudden injury or a progressive illness that has created a loss in our lives. Some of us have lost a career, our mobility, our identity, and some have lost their previous way of life.
It is like we have lost our best friend.
Each of us with chronic pain will have our own issues relating to grief and loss. What remains the same is that we must not forget or deny ourselves the opportunity to go through our grieving process. Without forgiveness and acceptance we are sure to remain spiteful towards our situations and ourselves.
Have I allowed myself to grieve over my losses?
Higher Power (Dear God),please grant me the courage to face whatever feelings of loss I may have in my life today.
