December 17.2014 – The Story Behind The Song “White Christmas” by Taylor Swift

Check out a video here! Taylor Swfit White Christmas

White Christmas. Irving Berlin knew he had just written a classic – when he asked his secretary to take down the song he had just written, he said, “I just wrote the best song I’ve ever written. Hell, I just wrote the best song anyone’s ever written!” Bing Crosby sang it on his radio show in 1941 and recorded it in 1942. It was the best-selling single in any music category until Elton John’s version of Candle in the Wind for Princess Diana took over in 1998.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the version sung by Bing Crosby is the best-selling single of all time, with estimated sales in excess of 50 million copies worldwide. All other versions of the song, along with Bing Crosby’s, has estimated sales over 100 million copies.

There are many versions of this song available, as is the way with most Christmas songs. I chose Taylor Swifts’ version, because, well, it is such a different delivery! I hope you enjoy it.

LYRICS: Written by Irving Berlin

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the tree tops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
So may your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
