December 1.2015 – Story Behind Your Man by Josh Turner

“Your Man” is a song recorded by Josh Turner. The fourth chart single of his career, it reached Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in early 2006, becoming the first Number One hit of his career.

“From the first time I heard [the song],” Turner said, “I knew there was something special about it. I didn’t know what it was.” He thanked his producer, Frank Rogers, for helping him see the song’s potential.

“Your Man” was released in August 2005 as the lead-off single and title track from his album Your Man. On June 1, 2006, it was certified Gold and on September 10, 2012, it was certified Platinum by the RIAA.

The song “Your Man” won American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) awards for writers Chris Stapleton (Stapleton ( Nobody To Blame, and What Are You Listening To), and Chris DuBois, as well as a Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) award for writer Jace Everett upon its reaching Number One.

Lyrics:
Baby lock the door and turn the lights down low
Put some music on that’s soft and slow
Baby we ain’t got no place to go
I hope you understand

I’ve been thinking ’bout this all day long
Never felt a feeling quite this strong
I can’t believe how much it turns me on
Just to be your man

There’s no hurry
Don’t you worry
We can take our time
Come a little closer
Lets go over
What I had in mind

Baby lock the door and turn the lights down low
Put some music on that’s soft and slow
Baby we ain’t got no place to go
I hope you understand

I’ve been thinking ’bout this all day long
Never felt a feeling quite this strong
I can’t believe how much it turns me on
Just to be your man

Ain’t nobody ever love nobody
The way that I love you
We’re alone now
You don’t know how
Long I’ve wanted to

Lock the door and turn the lights down low
Put some music on that’s soft and slow
Baby we ain’t got no place to go
I hope you understand

I’ve been thinking ’bout this all day long
never felt a feeling that was quite this strong
I can’t believe how much it turns me on
Just to be your man
I Can’t believe how much it turns me on
Just to be your man
