Today is Memorial day and I suppose many people will go through the day just thinking of it as a day off. Or, if you are working, you will think about all the people who have the day off!
I come from a family of veterans. I’ve been told that my great-grandfather rode with President Theodore Roosevelt and the Rough Riders in the late 1800’s. My granddad served in World War I. My dad and two uncles served in World War II. My brother served in the Navy in the early 70’s during Vietnam. My nephew served in the Gulf during the past decade on the USS Boxer.
Maybe that is why I am a little more sensitive to days like today. Memorial Day, Veterans Day, days we should thank the men and women that have and do serve our country. Freedom comes at a price and these soldiers step up and protect us.
Whatever you are doing today, pause to thank a veteran. I know I will.
