On the way tonight I will be speaking for the Radford Relay For Life event that is being held inside the
Radford Recreation Center. I am thrilled that I have been asked to participate in this event.
I believe in fighting back against cancer. Even when the odds are against you, that raw motivation and faith
that drives cancer survivor’s inspires me. Have I mentioned? I am a Huge fan of Survivor’s, and there are
so many, thank God.
I’ve lost both my parents to cancer and admittedly, there are days that I am filled with doubt and hurt.
But I know that advancements in cancer-care and cures and medicines helped my mom live several years
longer than her diagnosis called for. And I am blessed and thankful for those years.
I like tooting the American Cancer Society’s horn. They offer some incredible programs that assist
the cancer warrior as well as the care giver’s in the family.
There is the Look Good, Feel Better program which assist women fighting breast cancer.
They provide free wigs to any woman who asks and they have professionals in house that will help you
find the right fit and style.
The American Cancer Society provides rides to your chemo or radiation treatments.
And that’s just a few of the programs. There is always someone who is qualified and ready to talk to you
24/7 at 800-227-2345 or you can log on to their web site cancer.org if you would prefer to live
chat with someone.
I hope you find some of this information useful if you are fighting the fight.
And if you have a civic group, church group or business group that would like to hear more about my
families inspiring journey with cancer, please feel free to contact me at my email address
Here’s to finishing the fight against cancer.
Oh, and the color purple? That’s the color of a cancer Survivor. And here’s to YOU!
