David Nail came out with a new cd this week called “I’m A Fire”. The third album of his career, Darius Rucker says David is one of the best male vocalist in country music! So much so, Darius asked David to be his opening act for the “True Believer’s Tour.”
On this newest project, Nail pushes himself vocally and as a songwriter and it pays off. David wrote 4 of the 11 cuts. He also gets help from songwriter and rising star Brett Eldredge (“Don’t Ya”, “Beat Of The Music”) on “When They’re Gone (Lyle County)” a song that Little Big Town sings on.
“I’m A Fire” includes David’s second number one song, “Whatever She’s Got”, a fun tempo song that every seemed to sing along with when he appeared at the Roanoke Civic Center on March 1st.
My personal favorites include “Brand New Day” and “Counting Cars”.
And then there is the nod to the legendary Glen Campbell with “Galveston”. Campbell had a number one hit with the song in 1968, and is now considered the theme song for Galveston, Texas. Lee Ann Womack (“I Hope You Dance”) lends her vocals to that track. I never noticed until hearing David sing this, how similar his voice is to Campbell. He really does have an amazing voice.
David Nail appeared at the Star B-Q in Salem a few years ago and you can tell there is a change in the singer’s life. He recently admitted to battling severe depression and went on to say that after therapy and meds he is in a much better place now in his life.
“I’m A Fire” really is a solid project from David Nail and one I have totally enjoyed listening to this week!Share on Facebook
