It’s free of charge to parents so bring your children to Promenade Park on Electric Road/419, in the former Doctor Golf location . The VA CHIP ( Virginia Child ID Program) coordinators from the 22nd Masonic District, Pleasant’s Lodge #63AF & AM this Saturday from 11 – 3pm for a Child ID drive.
The complete CHILD ID process includes photos, video and fingerprints. Parents receive a package with a complete printout of the child’s information, a CD with the ID information, and a DNA acquisition kit that can be used at home. The Masons do not store any of the personal data on any of the children, and all files are deleted after the event is completed.
Steamin’ Summer Shrimpfest is Saturday at the Salem Civic Center. Presented by the Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce, it starts at 6pm -9pm, and costs $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door. Includes all you can eat shrimp with the extra’s, including grits, baked beans and cole slaw. There’s live music and an auction and it is good eats!Share on Facebook
