April 4.2014 – Ladies and Gentleman! I Present The Academy Of Country Music Awards!

The 49th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards will be handed out on Sunday night at the Mandaly Bay Casino and Resort
in Las Vegas. It really is one of the coolest night’s in country music. The who’s who of country music struts down the orange carpet (it’s sponsored by The Home Depot) and tells us the famous names their wearing, all in preparation to rock
out the night with music and honor the award winners.
Blake Shelton and Luke Bran will host again this year and their friendship and real chemisty shine through. The duo has
been affectionately dubbed “Bluke” on social media.
There are a couple of things I love about the “left coast awards”. One being the TV names they usually draw in to help
hand out the trophies. It is cool to see what actors continue to show up at this show, proving that they really do like
country music!
I like how the fans get to be involved in voting for the new artist of the year and the Entertainer of The Year.
Your Entertainer nominees are Luke Brayn, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, George Strait and Taylor Swift. The new artist
nominees are Brett Eldredge, Kip Moore and Justin Moore. Go here to vote ACM Voting
And finally, I like that there are occasionally wild card winners at the ACM’s.
Here’s a fun fact. The Band Perry will be opening this year’s show with their latest hit song “Chainsaw.” That song just
happens to be written by Buchanan native and James River High graduate Matt Ramsey!
I am an unabashed fan of Matt’s. A few years ago we closed Market Street in Downtown Roanoke and Matt and his band played
in the street. It was an awesome time and my introduction to Matt’s music. Fast forward as many years and Matt has this
hit by The Band Perry as well as the new Craig Morgan release, “Wake Up Loving You.”
Okay, I digress. I get excited when our local guys do good. On another day I will brag about Ross Copperman from Glenvar!
So, check out the ACM’s on Sunday night at 8 on WDBJ 7 and then we will talk about it on Monday morning!
