May 3.2014 – Nashville Stars!

Happy birthday to Eric Church!

Kenny Chesney may be taking time off the road to focus on his upcoming album, but The Tennessean reported this morning that he’ll be headed to the Big Easy on May 17th to play a special, one-hour acoustic show at the House of Blues in New Orleans, with all proceeds to benefit the charities of two of his best friends: actor Matthew McConaughey’s Just Keep Livin’ Foundation and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees’ The Brees Dream Foundation.
Look for Miranda Lambert in a four-page spread in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, as the mag goes “3 Rounds with” Miranda at L.A.’s Good Luck Bar in a Q&A that spans everything from Carrie Underwood to deer steak! Asked whether she gets nervous in the days leading up to a new album release — like right now, with her new album, Platinum, out June 3rd — Miranda admitted that with everything else happening in her life, including her charity, her shoe line, boutiques, and more, it still comes down to the music, saying, “Oh, I freak out, just because it’s what drives my whole life. All of this other stuff is great, but none of it happens if the music isn’t there.” Check out the full feature in the May 9th issue of Entertainment Weekly, on sale now!
US Weekly caught up with Carrie Underwood and hubby Mike Fisher, who says that he gives his wife plenty of space to be creative and do her thing when she’s in work mode, as Carrie said of the progress on her upcoming album: ”I’ve been writing quite a bit, it’s exciting! It definitely has a different sound. There are some thematic things that are quite different. I love strong women. So I want things that I can get on stage and just feel empowered.”
WKLB/Boston is holding an online charity auction to benefit Kenny Chesney’s Spread The Love Fund. Items for bid include a New England Patriots jersey autographed by Chesney; guitars autographed by Chesney and Taylor Swift; a trip to Texas to see the last show on George Strait’s The Cowboy Rides Away Tour; and dinner with the Zac Brown Band plus tickets to their Fenway Park show. The fund helps provide post-acute care for victims of traumatic injuries from last year’s Boston Marathon bombing. More here
Brantley Gilbert is partnering with Harley-Davidson and Folds Of Honor for a motorcycle ride from Athens, GA to Arlington, VA May 21-26. Gilbert will perform at several locations, concluding with a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. A bus accompanying him will be wrapped with graphics featuring names fans submitted of those who gave their lives in military service. Gilbert’s new album Just As I Am is out May 19.
Dierks Bentley has created the “Rise Up Line Up” program offering ticket holders for his Riser Tour the chance to earn points toward upgraded seats. “When I was in my 20s, I could only afford a lawn ticket to the big shows because I had to save my money for beer once I got in the gate,” Bentley says. “This is a cool way to give the fans an opportunity to get up closer to the stage and maybe even get them involved in the show.” The tour opens May 9 in Charlotte.
