Miranda Platinum

Congratulations to Miranda Lambert for topping both the country and all-genre album charts with Platinum, which sold more than 179,600 copies in its debut week, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Lambert is the only country artist to have each of her first five albums debut in the country top spot, according to the label. This is her first all-genre chart-topper.

Miranda included a song, ‘Priscilla,’ on her new ‘Platinum’ album. The song, which is a nod to Elvis Presley‘s ex-wife, Priscilla, has earned the approval of its namesake.

“@LisaPresley and I are listening to your song ‘Priscilla.’ Love it!” Presley shared on Instagram, along with a picture of her and her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. “Best of luck with your new album.” That’s the message Priscilla posted on InstaGram this week!

Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt has been officially announced as a member of the MCA family. As a songwriter, he’s had hits with Kenny Chesney’s “Come Over,” Keith Urban’s “Cop Car,” and Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight.” Hunt’s first single “Leave The Night On” will be released to Country radio June 16. Sam was just in town to play the Blue Ridge Music Festival!

At George Strait’s final “Cowboy Rides Away” Tour stop, the singer tossed his hat into the audience, and one lucky man caught it — and he plans on keeping it.

The hat toss happened after he played his final song ‘The Cowboy Rides Away’ and then thanked his guests and fans for a few minutes. Then, he popped off his hat, and tossed it. Dallas Stars hockey player Vernon Fiddler caught it, and since he’s been getting some great offers for the lid.
