Michael Douglas says he’s begun treatment for
throat cancer. Douglas tells David Letterman that he has already
finished his first week of chemo and radiation therapy. Letterman
says that Douglas has never looked better and it proves Douglas is
a “tough guy.” Douglas says he faces an “eight-week struggle”
of treatment. But he says the doctors are optimistic he has at
least an 80 percent chance of recovery. Douglas ended his interview
last night with a hug from Letterman.

Three years after he and Hilary Swank divorced,
Chad Lowe has gotten married again. People.com reports that Lowe
married his longtime girlfriend Kim Painter in front of family and
a few friends. Chad’s brother Rob Lowe was best man. Lowe and
Painter’s 15-month-old daughter Mabel was the ring bearer. She’s
the first girl born into the Lowe family in nearly four
generations.

Out of all the stars in Hollywood, Shia LaBeouf is the best one for the buck according to Forbes for a second year in a row. As in “for every $1 studios spend on the 24-year-old actor his films return an average $81 of profit.”

93-year-old actress Zsa Zsa Gabor  was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center via ambulance yesterday when she was found unresponsive in her home by her husband.  Before leaving the hospital during her most recent stay at UCLA Medical Center, she asked for a priest to administer her last rites, but she managed to make a recovery.  After undergoing hip replacement surgery in July, Gabor’s condition has deteriorated and it appears that her life is in danger due to the most recent setback. She has “pretty much been bedridden and wheelchair-bound for the last eight years.” Upon being released from the hospital after a four-week stay in mid-August, Gabor stated that she wanted to spend her final days at home.
The daughter of former presidential candidate, New York City mayor, Rudy Giuliani will have her indictment for shoplifting abandoned if she performs one day of community service. A Criminal Court  told 21-year-old Caroline Giuliani to “stay out of trouble” after she suspended the case “in contemplation of dismissal.” This means that the case will be closed if the Harvard student keeps her nose clean and completes the designated period of community service.
 
British newspaper The Telegraph has reported that J.K. Rowling, creator of the Harry Potter franchise, has donated $15.4 million to set up a multiple sclerosis research clinic. The author lost her mother to complications relating to the degenerative disease in 1990 after a ten-year battle.
 
The former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses and co-founder of Velvet Revolver, Slash, filed for divorce from his wife of nine years, Perla Ferrar, as a result of irreconcilable differences. The papers were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday.
